TOPIC: BUY THE TRUTH AND SELL IT NOT.
TEXT: PROVERBS 23:23; ISAIAH 55:1.
We are looking at Proverbs 23:23. It thus says, "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."
What kind of truth?
I. It's the truth from heaven.
II. It's the truth personalized in Christ.
III. It's the truth that transforms us from the inside to the outward life.
IV. It's an empowering truth.
V. It's the truth that saves.
VI. It's the truth that sanctifies.
VII. It's the truth that fills us with the Holy Spirit.
VIII. It's the truth of regeneration.
XI. It's the truth that comes from the throne of God. The truth on earth only prepares us to live a truthful life on earth, but it's the truth from heaven that prepares us for heaven.
Normally we buy whatever we want to get with money, but in Isaiah 51:1, the word of God says, Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. We buy the truth without money, obviously we buy everything on earth with money, but the word of God is talking about the wine from heaven, and when He comes with the Kingdom, He will drink with us, there's Kingdom wine, there's heavenly meal you buy without money, and without price, and as you come to buy the truth, we don't buy the truth with our local money. The money will not buy the truth, for you to have the money that buys, whether you're in America, the money that buys the truth are:
I. Dissatisfaction. You can not get money except you are dissatisfied. Dissaatisfaction is the first step to getting the currency you need to buy the truth.
II. Desire. You need to desire so that you can buy. That's the valuable thing that gets the truth.
III. Decision. Any nation, anywhere, to get money to buy something, you have to have a decision. If you sit at home, if you don't have any passion, money still will not come, you need to desire to do something, being happy will not get the money, a day comes in your life that you have decision. That's the valuable commodity that buys the truth.
IV. Dutifulness. You can not get the money without performing the duty.
V. Determination. A lazy man will say there's a lion on the way. It's the determined man who gets up and does something.
VI. To buy the truth, there's diligence. A diligent man focuses on his duty, which is the diligence that gets the currency to buy the truth.
VII. Devotedness. Once you know you are a daughter of destiny and that you have a goal, and you have a peak that you want to reach, you will be devoted.
Now you have the currency that buys the truth. It's a command, it's not an option, yes you're free to decide but you will not buy the truth without all these, it's this Kingdom truth that gets us to heaven, we need this truth to take us to eternity forever and ever. You have to make up your mind.
POINT 1. THE PURCHASE AND THE PRICELESSNESS OF THE TRUTH.
PROVERBS 23:23; REVELATION 3:17-18.
When we are talking about the priceless of the gift, we are talking about the truth in Christ, Christ is the truth personified, He came with the heavenly truth you cannot find in any other place, it's the saving truth, it's the sanctifying truth.
I. The peerless person and source of transforming truth.
John 14:6; 1:14-17; Matthew 22:16; Galatians 1:16-17,23-24.
In Egypt, there was famine and there was only one place they can buy the truth, the source is Joseph, no other dealer, no other source, only Joseph that was hated by his brethren, they told a lie against him, he was punished without committing an offense, he stand for JESUS and he became a source of transforming truth, he was holy, he was heavenly, and he was the only source of truth, so there was a great famine and Jacob went to buy the food from him. Jesus is the only source from where you can have this heavenly transforming truth. There's no other source of saving truth. There's no other giver of truth, and as you believe in the Son of God, truth personified, you buy the truth that sets you free. Jesus is the source of transforming truth that takes you to heaven
II. The personal pursuit and search for timeless truth.
Proverbs 23:23; 2:2-4; Matthew 13:44-46; Philippians 3:7-9.
Earth will come to an end to buy this truth abides forever. Political truth, scientific truth will not be needed in heaven. The timeless truth is what we need now. The certificate of the world will not get you to heaven, the only truth you go with after you have done here, is the timeless eternal truth and you need to have that personal possession of that truth, there must be dissatisfaction in your heart, whatever knowledge you have, you must have dissatisfaction in your heart, all the knowledge you have are earthly, you need this timeless truth, you must pursue and have determination, you must be diligent, you must have the devotion, the dedication, those are the people the heaven will send the truth to because they realize the only truth is Jesus, that's why you need to pursue this truth.
III. The priceless possession and satisfaction with total truth.
John 16:12-13; 14:17,26; Ephesians 3:3-5,8-9; Luke 10:21.
Scientific truth does not give everlasting satisfaction. You need to have this priceless truth that gives satisfaction. What you learned from Jesus for 3 years, you can not learn in any theological colleges in 30 years. Christ is the teacher of truth, He's the God of all truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of all truth. When you come to Christ, the Holy Spirit also comes to you. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. If you're going to be guided, you need guidance, and if you say you have denominational truth, the Spirit of truth will not guide, but when you come to Christ, the Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth and He will show you things to come. Earthly truth can not tell us what is going to happen tomorrow. Noah got heavenly truth and he declared it but all the other people there got the scientific truth, all the philosophical people there didn't accept, but Noah had contact with the everlasting Father, and he was told the truth of the things to come. We live in the world that people are limited in the technological truth they have, it's the Spirit of God that leads us into all truth, the scientists cannot see the truth that Christ is coming back again, but the Spirit of truth tells us Christ is coming again, and you need to have a personal possession of that heavenly truth, buy the truth and sell it not.
POINT 2. THE POWER AND THE PRECIOUSNESS OF THIS TREASURE.
PROVERBS 23:23; PSALMS 105:4.
Remember the command from heaven, remember the word of God that says buy the truth and a
Sell it not.
I. The power of His treasure of truth.
1 Timothy 2:3-4; James 1:18; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Romans 12:1-2.
This truth is the treasure of Christ, and He only reveals the truth to those who come to Him. The truth is, Christ has power to save all men, the love of God is so deep, and so high, He has the power to forgive all men, the grace of God is so wide and sufficient to bring us into salvation. The truth is, all men are not going to come to the knowledge of technology. He wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. It's the truth that will translate you from earth to heaven. He wants us to come to the knowledge of the truth. We became Born again with the word of the truth, it's the truth that get us born afresh and we become sons and daughters of God, He wants everyone to come to the knowledge of that truth. God has, from the beginning, chosen us to salvation. It's our privilege and the provision of God for us that we can have salvation and sanctification in the Lord. When you believe the truth, you stop believing a lie that only some people can be saved. Salvation is for everyone. You stop believing the lie. The truth is, salvation is for everyone, Christ sanctifies us with the truth, believes the truth, and is saved and sanctified. Believe the truth and be healed, believe the truth and drop all condemnations, and receive the confidence from heaven.
II. The perpetuity of His teaching and truth.
Psalms 117:1-2; 119:30,89; Matthew 24:35; 28:18-20
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the word of Christ shall not pass away. The Holy Spirit, through Peter, tells us that the whole galaxies will be burnt up and melt away. The words of Jesus Christ remain forever. You must be born again, and that word will not pass away. Truth of Jesus will never pass away. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, follow Peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord, that word will not pass away. Earthly truth is changing, and earthly knowledge changes from generation to generation, but the truth in Christ, the truth from Christ is, His word shall not pass away.
III. Our perseverance in the totality of truth.
Galatians 2:4-5; John 8:31-32; 2 Timothy 3:12-14; 4:1-5.
If you have the truth in the head, you will be changing from decade to decade, you will change when you see a hot headed man, that's why people cannot continue, they come across somebody who can argue and use the method of the world, but if you have Christ the truth inside, if you have the God of truth communicating with you everyday, you will continue perpetually, you will continue in perseverance of the totality of the truth. You are free today because you know the truth, and you are freer tomorrow because you know more of the truth. That's the truth we are hearing, buy the truth and sell it not, and you will be free.
POINT 3. THE PERDITION AND PERVERSENESS IN SELLING THE TRUTH.
PROVERBS 23:23; 1 TIMOTHY 6:5-10.
Buy the truth and sell it, not. Adam and Eve knew the truth directly from the Creator, and when the serpent came, they sold the truth. Judas Iscariot was treasurer for the truth, and he had the power from the truth to raise the dead and do exploits, he heard the truth, and everything he did, he did in the name of Jesus, but he sold the truth, he gave away the truth, all he heard was a lie and emptiness, when he heard the truth, he had satisfaction, after he sold the truth, he had sorrow, emptiness, dissatisfaction in the heart and he went and hang himself.
I. The tragedy of selling the truth at any price.
1 Kings 21:20,25; 2 Kings 17:17,33-34
And Ahab said to Elijah, "Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?" And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD. But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. (1 Kings 21:20,25). Ahab was a king in Israel, he had a privilege to find the first book of bible, he knew about Abraham and Jacob, he knew about those great man in the Old Testament, but he sold the truth and when he sold the truth, he sold himself. When you sell the truth, you sell yourself into the hand of the enemies, you will be empty, and there will be nothing in you to resist the error. Ahab heard the truth before Jezebel came into his life, and Jezebel had the personality. She came in and subdued him, and Jezebel became number one, and truth became number 2. Anybody that places the things of this world as number one and relegate the truth to the background, that person sells the truth. Ahab died without the truth, he died without protection by the truth, he died without the God of truth, when you sell the truth, you have sold your destiny, you have sold your eternity, and the person you sell your truth to is Satan and you will spend your life with him in the lake of fire
Ii. The transformation of sellers of truth after true penitence.
Matthew 26:69-75; John 21:15-17; Acts 4:18-20; 5:28-31.
God always makes a way to come back to the truth. It's that remorse, it's that repentance that brings you back to the truth. Peter had remorse and sorrow for selling the truth, he said he did not know Christ, but when he remembered the word of JESUS that he will deny Him, he regretted selling the truth, he reconnected the consequence of selling the truth, and now he repented of selling the truth and the Lord still make use of him, and on the day of Pentecost through his ministration, three thousands souls repented and come to the Lord.
III. The translation for steadfastness in truth into His presence.
Hebrews 11:5-6; 2 Kings 2:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52,57-58.
You've heard that Christ is the saving truth, you've heard of the truth that will never pass away, you are saved by Christ, you are sanctified by Him, His way is the way of truth, His word is the word of truth, you cannot walk together with Christ except you agree with Him, His truth is timeless, you walk in agreement with Him, you receive the truth and you walk with Him all the days of your life, if you're submissive and protected the truth, you will go with Christ when He comes. That's what happened to Enoch and Elijah. That's what happened to Jesus, and He was taken to heaven. This same JESUS, truth personify will come again. For all the people who accepted Him, when He comes, they shall go to heaven. There's something to happen, that Christ will come again and that mystery said we shall be changed in a twinkling of an eye. We shall be changed because we are saved, sanctified, and steadfast in the truth, and we will continue in the truth till the very end. You need to have the truth in your heart because you dissatisfied without the truth, because you're determined and diligence for the truth, one of these days the Lord will come, He wants you to get into the depth and the fullness of the truth, and when He comes, you will go with Him because you buy the truth and you sell it not.
