A FACT YOU CAN'T CHANGE!

TEXT: REVELATION 16:1-12

KEY VERSE: "And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image" (REVELATION 16:2).

The idea of hell and judgement is as controversial as the discussion of heaven and the rewards God will give to His righteous followers. While these two concepts are at polar ends, believing or refuting them does not nullify their reality. God's word, in Ecclesiastes 12:14, declares that He will bring every work into judgement. The Psalmist affirms too that all wicked men will end up in hell, including nations that forget God (Psalm 9:17).

Today's text confirms the reality of the above fact. In the Revelation that God gave Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos, he saw a vision of the seven angelic messengers dispensing judgement to this rebellious world in ways that have never been known or seen. Seven, in the Bible, is often associated with completeness or perfection, meaning these revelations are sacrosanct. Rivers and fountains of water, the great river Euphrates and the air will not be spared when God judges the world. Great and poor men, renowned kings and emperors will face the wrath of a holy God who gave the world a protracted opportunity to make amends.

The fact of divine judgement is not affected by human opinions. Believing it or not does not change its veracity. The unfortunate thing however, is that it will turn out as a damning reality to scoffers and doubters when they come face to face with the truth but it will be too late to do something about it. It will be worse off for those who know the truth and reality of this judgement but fail to take necessary steps to escape it.

God is merciful; He does not desire the eternal damnation of anyone. This is why He still delays the day of judgement to give room for everyone to repent and escape the doom. As many as turn to Him today by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour will be spared of the unprecedented distress of nations to come.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Those who would rather prove God's judgement experientially never present their findings.

INCREASE THROUGH LABOUR

TEXT:PROVERBS 13:11-13

MEMORY VERSE: "Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase" (PROVERBS 13:11).

Thomas Edison invented about 1093 things before he died at 87 years in 1831. His most popular invention is the electric bulb filament that brought the world out of physical darkness.

Edison's life was not without losses and failures. When fire gutted much of his lifetime valuables, he said, "There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burnt up. Thank God we can start anew". By faith, he kept on, and in three weeks after that disaster, he invented the phonograph - a sound recorder. He trusted in God's ability to help him overcome in all situations.

The Bible is replete with God's promises for our progress and prosperity. He gives wealth, by giving us wisdom to labour and to enjoy its fruit. He demands that we employ righteous work principles to get gain. He will not reward laziness.

God does not delight to give longevity, peace and power to anyone to enjoy wealth gotten through sinful conduct such as robbery, internet fraud, prostitution, occultism and cheating. The get-rich-quick syndrome is a path full of afflictions, sickness and painful regrets. Pray for all workers today.

QUOTE: Employ righteous work principles.

CHALLENGE: Labour to possess by right.

PRAYER: Oh God, prosper the works of my hands, in Jesus' name.

EXPECTATION FROM GOD

TEXT: PROVERBS 23:15-19

Key Verse: "For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:18).

When Larry's dad was leaving home for work that morning, he promised to buy him a bicycle. Larry was so excited, and wished the day could run fast. In school, he kept looking at his wrist watch to check the time.

As night began to draw near, Larry became more excited and was on the lookout for his dad's car. Lo and behold, his dad arrived with the brand-new bicycle. Larry's joy knew no bounds as he collected the gift and admired it.

The expectation of Larry was not cut short, as his bicycle was bought. Our heavenly Father loves us so much; and in His word, He assures that our expectations shall not be cut off.

Are you expecting something from God in your life, family, academics and health? Trust God, have faith and depend on Him, and your expectations shall not be cut off.

Remember, only friends of Jesus can expect blessings and favour from God. Repent today so that you can be a beneficiary of God's blessings.

Prayer: May all my expectations be granted this day through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
