MESSAGE ANCHORED BY THE GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT.
TOPIC: BELIEVERS' GREAT VICTORY THROUGH THE GLORIOUS SAVIOUR
TEXT: NUMBER 21:4-9; JOHN 3:14-16
Amen. Something new is happening to you today. This morning, you're going to have your own crusade. And this morning, we are going to talk about JESUS, and you will be delivered. For you, the Name of Jesus this morning will solve your problem. Anywhere you are, today is the day of your great victory. Today, we are coming to Numbers 21:4-9
Numbers 21:4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
21:5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. Mind what you say when you're discouraged, mind the things you do when you're discouraged, let your discouragement die of starvation. Discouragement doth evil speech, discouragement brought the mind of death unto the children of Israel. Discouragement brings deception, lies against yourself, against God, and against your leader. The serpents were there, but When the children of Israel kept their mouth, the Lord kept the serpent away from them, but when they rebel and murmur against God, the serpents were released to bit them and they couldn't control the situation anymore. When we ignorantly prayerlessly open our mouths and then we say things we shouldn't say against God, God will release punishment for overusing our tongues. I pray, You will not die before your time. A true minister should be saved and sanctified. If the adamic nature is taken away, then the hatred towards the people you're pastoring will be taken away. Don't argue with God. Whatever He says, do it. You will live beyond that sickness and poison of the old serpent of the devil. You will live IN Jesus' Name. Now, we are no longer looking at the serpent because Christ has died for us. We look at Calvary now by faith. You will not perish .if you're looking for eternal life, that's what you will get, you will not perish.
POINT 1. THE GRIEVOUS SUFFERING FOR THEIR BESETTING SIN
NUMBER 21:4-6; PSALMS 107:17,34
Affliction, suffering does not just come, but because of transmission, affliction comes. The children of Israel don't think of the consequences before they act. Many people become a fool today, and they destroy their lives because they don't think before they act. The reason why the children were barren is because of their wickedness. That's why they suffered grievously.
I. THE CORRUPTION AND THE FREQUENCY OF THEIR BESETTING SINS
Hebrews 12:1-2; Numbers 14:2-4; Hebrews 3;10-14
Those children of Israel acted like children unteachable. Anytime something happen, the only things they do are to grumble and use their mouth against God. Whenever discouragement came, they murmur and grumble. Besetting sins, grumbling always, complaining always comes up. What is your response when somebody crushed your way? Is there something you always say, like the children of Israel? That's the thing to check up in our lives, check up something you always say and do when you're tired. That's the besetting sin. What do you do when you look at a lady? Do you want to mess up yourself because of that? What you always do, the covetousness is besetting sin. Anger is a besetting sin. We get into a problem because of the besetting sin. That's what stopped the children of Israel from getting to the promised land.
II. THE CONSEQUENCE AND FATALITY OF THEIR BLASPHEMOUS SPEECH
Numbers 14:2,27-30; 2 Kings 7:1-2,16-20; Matthew 12:34-37
Great is the man who knows when to keep quiet and when to talk. Protected is a woman when she knows when to hold her mouth. Glorious profitable is the man and woman who knows what to say. Many people in the world get into trouble by just their tongue. We have two eyes, but we have only one tongue. With that only one tongue, you talk more than what you see. Minimize what you say, don't talk more than you do, don't talk more than what you see. These children of Israel overused their tongues, and the judgement came upon them. You overcome challenges when you moderate what you say.
III. THE CONFESSION AND THE FORSAKING OF THEIR BAFFLING SECRET
Numbers 21:6-7; Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:9
The children of Israel died like flies because of their baffling secret. Afflictions, sicknesses don't stop, there must be the confession and the forsaking of sin confession reaches everyone, is not limited to some set of people, confession must follow forsaking all sins There's a power in heaven that moderate prosperity. God is the one that directs and controls where prosperity goes. If you want prosperity from heaven for every endeavour you have, there's only one way, come to the Lord and confess your sins. As you confess, you forsake. You confess that besetting sin, blasphemous speech, backbiting speech, and you forsake them, and you say that thing no more, mercy will come to you today IN Jesus' Name.
POINT TWO: THE GREAT SACRIFICE OF OUR BLESSED SAVIOUR
If you believe in the Lord Jesus today, you will not perish. The Lord is coming to you because the great sacrifice of the blessed Saviour is for you, Calvary is for you. That crucifixion is for you, and you believe that you're set free today
I. LOOKING UNTO JESUS FOR TOTAL CURE
Numbers 21:8-9; Matthew 8:5-17; Acts 10:38
No sickness will remain after we mention the name of Jesus today. When the children of Israel were bitten by serpents, they came to Moses, and when they looked at the lifted serpent, the Lord delivered them. All we need to do is to look unto Jesus, this morning you will look unto Jesus. Jesus is the author and the perfecter of our faith. For salvation, He's the Saviour look on Him, He's the deliverer, look on him and your problems are solved, He's the healer, look on Him and you are he
II. LEANING ON THE JUSTIFIER FOR TRANSFORMING CONVERSION
Acts 3:19-21,26; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,19-20; Romans 12:1-2,9-21
III. LIVING IN THE JOY OF TRIUMPHANT CONQUERORS
Numbers 21:17-18,25,34-35; Romans 5:1-2,17; 8:2,11,17,37
Conversion transforms lives, the places that you use to go, you go there no more, that's conversion. There's no conversion if life is still of sinfulness. Lean on Christ, you don't depend on your own strength, you cannot handle your situation, you lean on the Justifier. What you've done is in the book of heaven, manage by the Lord and no religious leader, no priest can go where all your sins are being written and then wipe out every evil things you've done. But JESUS, who knows everything is the One that can blot out all your transgressions. He says repent and be converted that your sins may be blotted out. Christ is the one who can justify us. God sent Jesus to bless you, He will do it for us even today IN Jesus' Name.
Christ is the one that makes us to be triumphant. Now we come to the Lord, we repented, and we rely on Him. After being born again, we lean on Christ .now that we are saved and a new personality has now been given unto us, we now lean on Christ because He's the One that makes us conquer. Now we can rest in Christ. Now we can depend on Him. The justification brings us right into the presence of the Lord, now we have access unto the Father that protects us, and we live and live for Him day after day, we lean on Him and we keep on living for Christ day after day. At conversion, we receive an abundance of grace when we look unto God for our redemption. You will reign in life, the things that have dominion over you before, now you have dominion over them, sin will not reign over you anymore IN Jesus Name. You will receive an abundance of grace for steadfastness and salvation. You will not stop. You will move on onto steadfastness, and you will reign with Christ. If you're a preacher, you must taste the freedom you're talking about. As you're telling the congregation to be free from besetting sins, you yourself must be free from besetting sins. You must be free from anger, adultery, as a preacher. That spirit of life in Christ must make you free from all the things that held you down before. In your life, the Lord will do it. The Spirit of God will quicken every part of your body IN Jesus' Name. All those cancer cells will dry off IN Jesus Name, then your body cells will come alive, the power of God will so work mightily on you and you will live, He will quicken your mortal body.
POINT THREE: THE GODLY STAND FOR OUR BOUNDLESS SOUNDNESS
If you don't have any consecration, any commitment, and conviction you're standing for, you will fall for everything. After conversion, you must have what you're standing for.
I. THE FORTITUDE TO DESTROY THE BRAZEN SACRILEGE
2 Kings 18:1-4; Romans 2:22-24; Ezekiel 36:25-27
If you're embracing sacrilege and you're so proud of evil, you will not reign with Christ. When a child of God reigns, you will see the effect and the mark. After God directed Moses to lift up the brazen serpent and he did, everyone that looks at the brazen serpent will live. So, the children of Israel took the brazen serpent over all through the reigns of those kings, and they were sacrificing incense unto that brazen serpent, there are people that make men of God idol, but Hezekiah saw that this is a brazen sacrilege and he broke it. Look around you, are there some brazen sacrilege you raised up and you're still continuing in them? If you find something like that among the children of God today wanting to replace Christ in your life, in the church, break them down. We have to break down brazen sacrilege in our church. We are not going to allow anyone to take that brazen sacrilege from wilderness and bring it to the tabernacle of God. Nobody is indispensable to pollute the household of faith.
II. THE FAITHFULNESS THAT DELIVERS BOLD SAINTS
2 kings 20:1-6; Daniel 3:15-30; Ephesians 3:12,20-21.
You must be bold if you're going to conquer. You must be bolder than who you are. When Daniel was threatened, he was bold. You have to be bold and stand, no lion will kill you, and you have to stand for the truth. You have to be a bold saint to stand before Nebuchadnezzar, and God who you serve will deliver you out of the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, you will stand. Old saints living by Faith, they don't die by fire. Those who will not compromise will walk in the fire, and the fire will not hurt them. God will not forsake you, He will stay with you until the end. Nothing will shake your mind. You will be a conqueror IN Jesus' Name.
III. THE FAITH THAT DECREES BOUNDLESS SOUNDNESS
Job 22:21-28; Acts 3:6-10,16, 14:7-10,27.
You must faith in your life to say, evil spirit, idol worshippers will not have the final say, and is the faith that makes you decree and your life will go in that direction IN Jesus Name. This morning, we've heard the word of God that we should lean on Christ and no personality that can stand before us IN JESUS Name. We are going with confidence, we are going as conquerors and everything that stands on our way, before we get there they will fall before us. And whatever happens at any time, you will decree what you want and it shall be done unto you. And every day at a time, you will conquer. Whatever you open your mouth and decree, it will be done. The devil, the sinners, will not have the final say in your life.
